Allen & Heath Expands Training Resources

Successful Allen & Heath Mini Masterclasses and Allen & Heath Academy grow and evolve based on attendee feedback.

Launched in November 2020, the third semester of Allen & Heath Mini Masterclasses has been announced, developed from student feedback over the first two course terms. Recurring every Wednesday at 9AM Pacific, world-class instructors present 25 minute masterclasses followed by Q&A and 1-on-1 ‘office hours’ time. Currently alternating between an ‘Installation Inspiration’ and a ‘Monitor Mix Mastery’ track with the occasional guest lecturer session, key faculty include Michael Bangs and Samantha Potter.

With 20+ years experience as a monitor engineer and production manager for A-list acts including Aerosmith, Eric Clapton, George Strait, Katy Perry, Tom Petty, Kid Rock, and Lynyrd Skynyrd, Michael Bangs heads up the ‘Monitor Mix Mastery’ track courses. Senior contributing editor for Church Sound Magazine and ProSoundWeb, co-director of Church Sound University, and veteran audio engineer and design consultant Samantha Potter presents the ‘Installation Inspiration’ track.

It has been amazing to sit in on these virtual classes and see such a high level of interaction and learning going on,” Allen & Heath USA Marketing Director Jeff Hawley said. “We’ve ramped up our free resources with original content across the board over the last year. The Mini Masterclasses are a fun ‘bite-sized’ informal hang around a particular topic and it is cool to offer up this third semester with sessions designed entirely by our fans out in the field.” Beyond touring FOH and monitor engineers, consultants, integrators, house of worship production team members, and those within the rental community, all stand to gain by enrolling for Mini Masterclasses.

Initially planned to kick off in March 2020, the company’s nationwide in-person Allen & Heath Academy was put on hold due to COVID-19. Presented by Allen & Heath USA in cooperation with its regional network of independent sales representatives all across the country, the Allen & Heath Academy workshops are based around in-person academy training which lead to official certification and AVIXA CTS RUs.

“We still look forward to getting back out on the road for in-person Allen & Heath Academy training,” notes Allen & Heath USA Live Sound / Touring Manager Michael Bangs. “In the meantime, we listened to dealers and reps who requested an online ‘dLive 101’ level alternative format. After some time designing and putting the online Academy course through beta testing, we’re set to roll it out to dealers soon!”

To request access to the Allen & Heath Academy online certification program, dealers should contact their Allen & Heath sales representative. All sessions are free to attend.
