Renowned venue, the Black Box, located in Nice in the South of France, has installed a dLive S Class digital mixing system from Allen & Heath at FOH following an overhaul of its audio equipment.
“When we decided to upgrade our console, I was introduced to dLive by an engineer called Serge from Pan Pot PA company, which owns one. I immediately got hooked on the layout of the surface, which is crystal clear, and the exceptional processing rate, which makes the mixer extremely powerful. dLive offers enormous resources compared to other offerings on the market, plus the sound quality is exceptional, and I find the preamps really effective,” comments stage manager, Cedric Turco.
Black Box’s new dLive system comprises a S7000 Surface and a DM32 MixRack. The venue hosts an eclectic programme, including dance and theatrical productions, and a roster of national and international artists from any genre ranging from rock to gospel.
“dLive offers a very neutral, smooth sound without the need for any treatment or FX. However, if you want something out of the ordinary, you can use any of the amazing FX emulations, such as a Vintage compressor,” continues Turco. “The modularity of the system will also allow us to evolve our configuration with additional I/O racks, which can be moved to various places in the venue as needed. I love the firmware updates, which are frequent and really useful, such as the recently released DYN8 processors, which now I cannot live without!”
