The iLive Family
iLive is a uniquely flexible digital mixing system. By putting the DSP and audio in the MixRack we have opened up a whole world of control and networking possibilities. An iLive system can be anything from a full blown touring rig controlled by modular Surfaces that look and feel much like conventional mixing consoles, right through to an ultra-compact setup with just a MixRack controlled via a laptop or tablet.
Firmware and show files are compatible throughout the iLive family, making it easy to transfer settings from one iLive system to another. And that family is an extended one, with no fewer than 6 MixRacks and 7 Surfaces to fit a range of roles and budgets, plus an array of software, apps and remote controllers.

A&H TCP MIDI Driver Installer
The TCP MIDI Driver allows the GLD or iLive MIDI Protocol to be communicated over an Ethernet connection to a computer. By installing the driver, a virtual MIDI port will be available for DAW control or similar applications. The driver has options to connect to an iLive or GLD on the network.
Please note that Windows PC drivers are currently not available.
For the iLive MIDI Protocol specifications please see here.

Notes on old hardware and firmware versions
IF YOU ARE UPDATING FROM V1.8 OR EARLIER READ FIRST:
Do not update MixPad and Tweak until you have firmware V1.9 running on your iLive. Once updated to V1.9 these apps are no longer compatible with previous version V1.8.
Modular iLive iDR10 and iDR0 MixRacks require a DSP module upgrade to be able to run V1.9. The new DSP RackExtra TWO module can be ordered from Allen & Heath and easily fitted to these MixRacks. Fixed format MixRacks do not require this upgrade.
> Also read these IMPORTANT NOTES
Make sure all your iLive MixRacks, Surfaces and xDR expanders are updated to the latest version of firmware.
> Read how to update system Firmware
Note – The iPad MixPad application and the xDR-16 audio expander require the iLive system to be loaded with V1.80 or higher. Make sure you update all your iLive systems and xDR-16 expanders to the latest version of firmware available here.
Note – V1.72 fixed an error with Sidechain settings. It auto updates the settings in old Scenes when they are recalled which can increase recall time. To restore normal recall time please use a version of V1.72 onwards to recall then resave the Scenes in the old Shows you wish to use. Re-archive the Shows when this is done.
Note – The modular iLive early version 2FX DSP is no longer supported from V1.6 onwards. Most modular iLive are fitted with the 8FX RackExtra DSP. Early systems can be upgraded.
Note – For Surfaces fitted with the newer TouchScreen computer (SBC) types introduced in late 2010 firmware V1.70 and older will not run. Also, firmware V1.71 cannot be restored after updating to V 1.8. However, you can downgrade from 1.8 to 1.72 if required.
Note – iLive Surfaces fitted with earlier 1GHz SBC
Firmware version 1.6 and higher will not install on early iLive Surfaces fitted with the 1GHz TouchScreen computer (SBC). This affects only a few very early modular iLive Surfaces. Most modular iLive and all fixed format T and R Series Surfaces are fitted with the faster 1.5GHz SBC. If you attempt to update a 1GHz system to V1.7 or later the firmware will load but an ‘Invalid Firmware Version’ screen will appear after the update. You can restore the previous version V1.54 from this screen. The older version is bundled as a backup within this V1.7 update. The hardware update to 1.5GHz SBC can be carried out by your Allen & Heath service agent. This provides the benefit of improved system speed.
Note – iDR-32 and iDR-48 MixRack firmware failing to update using iLive Editor
We became aware of a manufacturing error which resulted in the incorrect boot code being used within certain IDR32 and iDR48 MixRacks. The code that has been used is the same as that used prior to the release of firmware version 1.5 and therefore does not support the use of iLive Editor to update the firmware within the MixRack.
The units affected will have serial numbers previous to these listed below and contain an “X”.
iDR32X 193095 and iDR48X 174512
If your serial number does not contain an “X” it will not be affected by this issue. If it is affected the MixRack can be updated via a connection to any surface in the normal way. Once a MixRack has been updated via a surface it will be able to be updated using iLive Editor in the future. If you cannot update your MixRack and you do not have access to a Surface, please contact your distributor or contact Technical Support at support@allen-heath.com for assistance
Note – For users updating from V1.43 or earlier
Updating your system to V1.5 or higher will reset the IP network addresses of the Surface and MixRack. If your system has non standard IP addresses and is currently running 1.43 or lower, there is a small chance that it will not connect. This does not affect units running 1.5 or later versions.
1. If your system fails to connect to Surface and MixRack, press the TouchScreen Network Setup button on-screen then press Reset Network Settings – Apply – OK. When the system connects, you can set your own IP address again.
2. If your system still fails to connect, carry out these instructions to reset the network address. When the system connects, you can set your own IP address again.
