Your All-In-One Studio Solution

The Qu series of digital mixer-interfaces bring together all the features you need to run a recording and mixing session with professional results, whether that's at home or in a dedicated studio space.

Combining world-class sound quality, advanced digital mixing capabilities and DAW control, the Qu will quickly become the heart of your studio.

WHY QU?

  • High-channel-count USB recording.
  • Low-noise, transparent preamps - with a touch of our famous analogue warmth.
  • Flexible workflow offers 3 styles of mixing:
    • In-The-Box - Mix entirely in your DAW with the option to control your DAW from Qu
    • Out-of-The-Box - Mix entirely in the Qu with the option to record fader movements for recall.
    • Hybrid - Combine ITB and OTB mixing methods for the best of both worlds.
  • Low-latency direct monitoring with FX.
  • Use Qu as a control-surface: HUI and Mackie Control compatibility for hands-on DAW mixing.
  • Give musicians control of their headphone mix with free iOS/Android apps.

ROCK-SOLID RECORDING

Audio interfaces are usually limited to low channel counts without the addition of additional input expanders. That's fine if you're just recording solo artists, but it's not so great if you need to record multiple performers at once.

Qu gives you enough tracks of 48kHz/24-bit audio to cope with any session, all delivered via a 480Mbps USB 2.0 connection.

Qu-24    32in | 30out
Qu-32    32in | 32out
Qu-Pac  32in | 32out
Qu-SB    32in | 32out

Support for simultaneous WDM and ASIO playback - as well as multi-client ASIO functionality - offers multiple options when it comes to playback from your DAW and other software.

Tried and tested drivers for Windows, and OS X Core Audio compatibility, deliver reliable performance, every time.

MIX YOUR WAY

Maybe you're an old-school engineer raised on analogue and tape? Or maybe you grew up with DAWs and plugins?

It doesn't matter, Qu lets you mix your way.

IN THE BOX (ITB)

Use Qu as the front-end for your recording and low-latency monitoring. Mix in your DAW with all your favourite plugins.

Use the MIDI Control application to control your DAW via the Qu's faders for quick and easy automation.

Don't need faders? Qu-SB and Qu-Pac offer faderless options in a smaller footprint, fully controllable via iPad.

OUT OF THE BOX (OTB)

Prefer to use your DAW as a virtual tape-machine? Just press play and start mixing in the Qu.

With full channel processing - including compressor, gate, HPF and EQ - and a collection of our renowned reverbs, delays and modulation effects, Qu gives you the power to mix entirely inside the mixer, and outside of your computer.

With 100 user memories, an OTB mix can be recalled instantly when revisions are required.

HYBRID

The best of both worlds: use a combination of your favourite plugins alongside Qu's onboard processing and FX.

TAKE CONTROL OF YOUR DAW

When you're working in-the-box, mixing with a mouse can really slow you down - especially when you need to automate levels to keep a mix interesting.

HANDS-ON

Using the free MIDI Control software, Qu can be configured to emulate the standard HUI and Mackie Control protocols - enabling hands-on control of levels, mute, solo and select - for use with all popular DAWs.

Programmable softkeys on the Qu can be configured for MMC transport control, and for scrolling through banks of faders in your DAW, speeding up your workflow and letting you concentrate on the mix.

If you prefer to mix out-of-the-box, you can record fader moves from the Qu to your DAW for completely recallable OTB mix automation.

NO COMPROMISE SOUND QUALITY

From input to output, and everything inbetween, Qu is designed to deliver professional sounding results whether you're mixing on the Qu or in your DAW.

AnalogiQ PREAMPS

Developed especially for the Qu range, our AnalogiQ preamps deliver 65dB of gain - capable of working with condenser, dynamic and ribbon microphones as well as line-level sources - with low noise, minimal distortion and a touch of the analogue warmth that Allen & Heath are famous for.

The digitally controlled preamps, with advanced zero-crossing detection and a padless 1dB-step gain stage, have been closely allied to the DSP for optimal gain accuracy and audio transparency.

ANALOGUE TO DIGITAL (AND BACK AGAIN)

The analogue signal is captured by high-class, low latency 24bit analogue to digital converters, which are matched to 24bit digital to analogue converters to deliver the required high quality output.

ONBOARD PROCESSING & FX

Qu utilises dual-core DSPs, giving 10 DSP cores, 8 of which are dedicated to channel and mix processing alone. The DSP architecture employs varied bit depths, tailored to specific algorithms, with 48 bits on critical EQ functions and a 56-bit accumulator on the mix bus where it really counts, allowing every nuance of the audio to be captured in the final mix.

SILENT OPERATION

Qu's clever mechanical design ensures the mixer is kept cool and quiet without the need for noisy fans, making it ideal for use in single-room studios as well as traditional control rooms.

THE PERFECT MIX FOR PERFORMERS

Qu is equipped with all the tools you need to ensure the musicians are happy with their headphone mix when recording. Connect the MIX outputs to your headphone amplifiers and you're ready to go.

LOW LATENCY MONITORING

Performers can be sensitive to latency in their headphone mix. Qu offers low-latency direct monitoring - just 1.2ms from input-to-output - that will keep even the most demanding performers happy.

EFFECTS IN THE CANS

Qu's onboard FX can be utilised to add reverb, delay or modulation to musicians headphone mixes to aid the performance, without affecting the recorded signal. FX can be added with no increase in latency, unlike DAW based monitoring.

LOTS OF OUTS

All Qu mixers offer a minimum of 3 stereo and 4 mono foldback mixes with dedicated outputs, allowing seven (or more) performers to have their own unique mixes.

GIVE MUSICIANS CONTROL

The free Qu-You app can be used by up to seven performers to control their personal headphone mixes from an iPhone, iPad or Android device.

For more performers and larger studios, the ME Personal Mixing System can be incorporated for the ultimate in control.

WELL CONNECTED

A comprehensive range of connection options ensures that Qu is equipped to deal with all possibilities.

USB 2.0

Connection to a computer is handled via a single USB 2.0 connection. With a bandwidth of 480Mbps, multitrack audio recording and playback is stable and reliable, so you can feel confident every time you press Record.

dSNAKE REMOTE I/O

Add remote inputs and outputs to Qu with our range of dSnake remote audio expanders. Connection via CAT5 cable delivers a true plug-and-play experience.

Qu-DRIVE RECORDING

All Qu models feature Qu-Drive, our direct-to-USB recording technology.

Simply connect a compatible USB storage device, or SD-Card via a compatible USB SD-Card reader, and record multitrack audio without a computer in sight - ideal for location recording, or when you need to keep things simple.

ALT OUTPUTS

Connect a secondary pair of monitors using the dedicated Alt-Outputs* on the rear of the mixer. A dedicated volume control is provided to make switching between monitors easy.
*not included on Qu-SB

TALKBACK

A dedicated Talkback input is provided* ensuring you can communicate with the performers without using up an input socket.
*not included on Qu-SB

AES3 OUTPUT

A stereo AES3 output* enables digital connection to AES equipped studio monitors.
